Liturgy

The Diocesan Liturgy Commission offers training, direction and resources to all Parishes who wish to establish a Liturgy Group. Members of the Commission are available to advise such groups, and help with training programmes for those involved in Parish Liturgy.

The Liturgy office organises workshops on the liturgies of Advent/Christmas and on Lent/Easter annually in the Diocese. They also help resource choirs, with various music workshops organised throughout the year.

Ministers of the Word
Ministers of the Word proclaim the word of God at the celebration of the Eucharist and at other Liturgies.  The Liturgy Commission offers formation courses for people wishing to serve as a Minister of the Word.  If you feel called to serve the Lord and your parish community as a Minister of the Word, please contact a Priest in your parish to offer yourself for training.

Ministers of Holy Communion
Special Ministers of Holy Communion, previously called 'Eucharistic Ministers', assist the priest at the Sunday Liturgies by helping to give the body and blood of Christ to the gathered community.  They may also be asked to bring Holy Communion to the sick and housebound in the parish, be it in their own homes or in hospital or nursing home.  The Liturgy Commission offers formation courses for people wishing to serve as a Minister of Holy Communion.  If you feel called to serve the Lord and your parish community as a Minister of Holy Communion, please contact a Priest in your parish to offer yourself for training.

Music Ministry
Music Ministry is a very important part of the parish celebration of the Eucharist.  Many people use their time and talents with their gift of music to enhance the Parish Liturgies.  Training is available to choirs and cantor's who may wish to obtain repertoire for the different seasons throughout the Liturgical year.
