Second Level Diocesan Advisors

The Diocesan Advisor for Second Level schools facilitates the teaching of religion in the school in a number of ways:

  • By school visitation to meet with and encourage the religion teachers and help evaluate their work.
  • By advising the Principal/Board of Management and Religion teachers on the Catechetical Syllabus, and helping with devising and supplying suitable resource material.
  • By providing pastoral support to teachers and chaplains.
  • By organising in-service theological and catechetical training for teachers.
  • By encouraging and facilitating the establishment of links between school, home and parish.

The Second Level diocesan advisers office is based at St. John's Pastoral Centre, John's Hill, Waterford.
